The Fayetteville Independent Automobile Dealers Association was a trade group for used car dealers in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and their site lived on Latchon’s own server too, at fiada.latchon.com, the same arrangement as vics.latchon.com. Same client commissioned both, so I built a cigar club’s site and a car dealers’ trade site around the same time.
Every page footer reads “©2000 Latchon Multimedia, Inc. All Rights Reserved” next to a “Contact Latchon” mail link, and the discussion board’s one post is signed “Latchon Multimedia, Inc.” and dated 18 Apr 2000. The board’s own footer says “Last changed: May 14, 2000,” which fits with the earliest Wayback capture landing the following March. The pages covered what a trade group needs: why to join, a benefits package (state and national lobbying, group insurance rates, an arbitration board), a members directory, and a discussion board.
It’s built the way most of Latchon’s small-client sites were that year: FrontPage 4.0, tables for layout, the theme pack’s bullet graphics instead of real list styling. The one working piece of interactivity is the discussion board, FrontPage’s built-in web bot, which is why that lone post carries the Latchon byline instead of a member’s.
